OPTIONAL: Governor Whitmer Letter due Friday 

Governor Whitmer will be at BCS on Monday and would be honored to receive a letter from you.  Go to Google Classroom for directions on the optional writing assignment.  




Third graders received free energy efficient products (fourth received these last year).  They will be bringing home the kit along with a form for you to complete and return.  Please help us get 100% class credit by returning the white form signed by Friday, March 6!   


Our Spring Student-Led Conferences will be taking place soon!  The link to sign up for your child's homeroom teacher is to your right.
Please sign up for a time that works best for you and your child as he/she will be leading you through this conference.  (March 18 (Wednesday) or March 19 (Thursday)

GYM SCHEDULE:

Starting January 21st:  Frishman will be in the gym.  Butzin will be in the pool.  This schedule stays until March 6th.

Please initial the planner each day at the bottom to show us that you are aware of what has been assigned!



The blue take home folder is in your child's binder!   Please have your child share these with you.  You will see papers in there throughout the year at random times.  Please prompt your child to bring you those items when they appear!



Ask your child if he/she is leaving class a lot to get a drink of water!  If so, please send your child with a WATER BOTTLE to keep here in class and refill each day!



Today's Homework:

***For reading homework, your child is free to read anything as long as it is approved by you!  This includes magazines, newspapers, chapter books, anything!

Scholastic Book Order: Due Friday March 13


3rd Grade Reading:  20 or more minutes
4th Grade Reading:  30 or more minutes

Compass Learning: 20 minutes per week in Math or Reading


Language Arts:
We are working hard on nonfiction reading and researching.   We are also learning about "thick versus thin" questions.  Finally, we are working on reading at our "just right" levels and challenging ourselves as readers.  As a class we typicaly have a class read going.  We just finished up "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and now are focused on "100 Dresses".



Writing:
We are working hard in class on research, informational writing, and how to share that information.   We are also doing some informational quick-writes to practice our skills!


Word Study:
Signed Spelling Letter/Assignment Due Friday, March 13

Remember – DO NOT click theTestMe options on spellingcity.org. Save that button for the day of your test. (You may complete the Spelling and Vocabulary Practice Tests though.)



3rd Grade Math:
HR 6-7
Online tests due 3/20/20 on all facts 0-10
Xtra Math-3+ rounds with Mr. C.


Information about upcoming 3rd grade math units:
We will be skipping Unit 4 - Addition/subtraction and Place Value, with the exception of a few students who will work with myself or Mrs. Roberts to master those skills based on the pretest. Next, we will continue with Unit 6, Unit 7 and then back to Unit 5.


Xtramath:
 3 days per week minimum
Xtramath Enrollment flyers were given out in class to those student still needing to enroll. Please let me know if you need another copy. We will focus on Multiplication using this site. Please ask a parent to follow the directions on the Xtramath flyer.

Parents - If your child used Xtramath in 2nd grade, please enroll them using the code on their letter so that they begin where they left off with previous multiplication practice. If they did not do multiplication yet, this is where they will start


4th Grade Math:
HR 5-6
Online tests #9 due 3/10/20


Social Studies:
We are currently studying Michigan 'Becoming a State'

Ideas to Explore:
The War for Independence and the beginning of the United States


Science:
We are investigating Rocks, Minerals and Landforms!  Currently we are talking about physical weathering and chemical weathering!


Daily Reminders:
PENCILS PLEASE!!!!
*Bring a chapter book.
*Bring a water bottle and two healthy snacks every day.
