(Bring in a chapter book to read in class. You will keep your book inside your binder)

-We are learning to write a well developed, structured paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting details, transitions and a closing sentence.  We are also learning to write narratives to develop experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive detail and clear event sequences.  


Spelling:  

Last Friday we took a test on our words and received our new words.  Ask to see the words as the spelling list was written in the planner.   You can also find the spelling list in Power Spelling along with the games.  Students should play all games on Power Spelling before Friday!  

Our next spelling test is Friday, October 28th.  If your child is ever absent for a Friday spelling test, it will be active online that morning and can be done at home.

This week's word pattern: Week 5: Short and long u vowel patterns 

The test on November 4th be on the following words:  lunch, crumb, amuse, brush, refuse, tune, rude, argue, young, suit, chew, clue, fruit, dew, stuck, bunch, truth, juice, trust, trunk.

Motion and Matter focus questions: What happens when magnets interact with other magnets and with paper clips?  How is the magnetic field affected when more magnets are added?  Ask your child what a force is and what the two types of forces are!
