Due to scheduling difficulties, our fall zoom conferences took place during the week of October 9. These were in place of our regular November conferences. Zoom links are posted on the side of this page. We always look forward to discussing your child’s progress with you!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Parents: Please make sure your child has headphones or earbuds that can stay in his/her desk all year long!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHROMEBOOKS: While your child is allowed to bring home his/her chromebook, we don't recommend it on a regular basis because we don't have chargers for kids to take home. Their chargers are in our cart. When students take home their chromebooks, they often come back dead and are unable to be used in class. All of our resources can be accessed anywhere on any device where there is internet! Start by visiting www.birmingham.k12.mi.us and scroll down until you see the link for logging into classlink. Ask your child to show you around ClassLink and what we have used so far.

Today's Homework:
Students are bringing home a completed packet for Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing Chapters 1-2 & Chapters 3-4. They are also brining home a Water and Climate Investigation # 1 to show you. Ask them to share their work with you!
Book Orders:
-3rd Grade Reading: 20+ minutes
-4th Grade Reading: 30+ minutes
-Bring a chapter book for class each day. You will keep this book inside your desk or binder.
Language Arts:
We are currently learning various writing strategies to help us enhance our narrative writing work. This will continue over the next few weeks.
We are enjoying the story "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing" This novel lends itself well to our study of characters, setting, plot, predictions, inferencing, and so much more! This study will extend into our independent reading time as well.
We are using the CUPS acronym to help us edit. Ask your child to take you on Schoology to show you what we accomplished today (it is in our Academic Lab in the language arts folder).
***PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD BRING IN A FEW BOOKS FOR OUR FREE READING TIME DAILY!!
Spelling:
-3rd Grade:
-Our Unit 1 Test will be tomorrow. Students are bringing home a test letter today on yellow paper! They should get it signed and return the letter tomorrow before the test.
-Our second OLT (online test) is due on Friday, October 27. Students will be focusing on the 10s multiplication facts. It is timed so I suggested that students practice a few days before taking the OLT. Of course you can type for your child!
-Checkpoints B and C came home for parent signatures. Please sign it so that I know you saw it. Then I will send it back home with your child for you to keep.
-Your child received an optional homework packet for unit 1. This is a great review for our unit 1 study but parents get to decide if this is optional work or not. It does NOT need to be turned in as it is just for practice.
-All students have 2 iready math lessons due Friday. (You must pass a lesson for it to count.) Students should have 10 completed for the year by October 13.
-4th Grade:
-If your child has not yet demonstrated traditional multiplication and long division problems, please ask him/her to do so.
-3 iready math lessons due October 27 (you must pass a lesson for it to count). After this assignment, you should have 15 already completed for the year! Your child can show you the lessons he/she completed and passed. Just ask!
-Online tests due on October 27 (assigned 10-13-23)! These tests are completed on Thatquiz.org. Don't forget to practice for a few days BEFORE you take the tests! *There was a glitch with the division test. Let me know if you need more time to get it done!
PARENTS: YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DO ALL THE TYPING FOR YOUR KIDS!
