We are learning the importance of setting weekly ⭐ goals!   We learned how to set a school  ⭐goal, family goal and personal goal.  We wrote our weekly goals in our planner at the top of the page for this week.
Ask your child to share with you his/her ⭐goals for the week!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Parents:  Please make sure your child has headphones or earbuds that can stay in his/her desk all year long!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*While your child is allowed to bring home his/her chromebook, we don't recommend it on a regular basis because we don't have chargers for kids to take home.  Their chargers are in our cart.  When students take home their chromebooks, they often come back dead and are unable to be used in class.  All of our resources can be accessed anywhere on any device where there is internet!  Start by visiting www.birmingham.k12.mi.us and scroll down until you see the link for logging into classlink.  Ask your child to show you around ClassLink and what we have used so far.

*Please check this blog daily for homework updates and important information.

Language Arts:

We are currently learning various writing strategies to help us enhance our narrative writing work.  This will continue over the next few weeks.

We are enjoying the story "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing"  This novel lends itself well to our study of characters, setting, plot, predictions, inferencing, and so much more!  This study will extend into our independent reading time as well.

We are using the CUPS acronym to help us edit.  Ask your child to take you on Schoology to show you what we accomplished today (it is in our Academic Lab in the language arts folder).

Math:

-3rd Grade

-Our first OLT (online test) is due on Friday, October 20.  Students will be focusing on the 5 multiplication facts.  It is timed so I suggested that students practice a few days before taking the OLT.  Of course you can type for your child!

-Checkpoints B and  C came home for parent signatures. Please sign it so that I know you saw it.  Then I will send it back home with your child for you to keep.

-Your child received an optional homework packet for unit 1.    This is a great review for our unit 1 study but parents get to decide if this is optional work or not.  It does NOT need to be turned in as it is just for practice.

-All students have 2 iready math lessons due Friday. (You must pass a lesson for it to count.)  Students should have 10 completed for the year by October 13.

-All students should complete 3 sessions of Xtramath by Friday   (Students should complete 1 session which is about 5-7 mins - Click "continue" until Mr. C says that you are done!)

-4th Grade

-Please ask your child to show you the long division we have been working on.  Ask him/her to demonstrate a problem for you.  This is a skill that requires a lot of practice for most students.  Your help and practice at home with traditional multiplication and division is greatly appreciated!!

-3 iready math lessons due October 20 (you must pass a lesson for it to count).  After this assignment, you should have 12 already completed for the year!  Your child can show you the lessons he/she completed and passed.  Just ask!
