***Does your child have headphones or earbuds at school? Please ask and be sure to send in a pair that can stay at school all year!
***Does your child leave class a lot to get drinks? If you ask and he/she says yes, please send a water bottle daily!
Language Arts:
3rd graders - Read 20 mins (minimum) each night
4th graders - Read 30 mins (minimum) each night

Language Arts Focus:
We are excited to for our Because of Winn Dixie novel study. Our book study focus will be on the following strategies: connecting/inferring/sequencing/summarizing/questioning/visualizing/evaluating/word skills/author's purpose
-Personal Narrative Essay/Show Don't Tell/Leads and Hooks/Figurative Language/ Simile/Metaphor/Idiom
-We learned to write a well developed, structured paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting details, transitions and a closing sentence. We are also learning to write narrative essays to develop experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive detail and clear event sequences.
This week's word pattern: Week 11: We are working on final long e words: -y, -ey, -ie

-OLT (6s x /) due FRIDAY, 2/6/2023 (Students will complete this assignment at home.) Study your facts before taking the quizzes. There will be a multiplication and a division quiz.
Teach your parent about the mountains, hills and rocks we use to calculate elapsed time!
-In unit 3 we are learning about measurement, time and graphs! We will draw scaled picture graphs and bar graphs. Also, we will use number lines to represent intervals and use drawing to represent a problem involving liquid volume and mass. Lines plots will be made to record data.
4th Grade Math –
-In class we completed journal pages 145-147
-Our homework is HR 4-8
-OLT due 1/23/23
Social Studies –
-Teach a parent what you have learned about during your State research. How do geographers study the regions of the United States? Teach a parent about lines of latitude/longitude/map key/special purpose maps/scales and symbols/global grid/cardinal/intermediate directions/US regions
Science –
-Motion and Matter focus questions: What happens when magnets interact with other magnets and with paper clips? How is the magnetic field affected when more magnets are added? Ask your child what a force is and what the two types of forces are.
