LIBRARY CARD

Homework:
***Does your child have headphones or earbuds at school? Please ask and be sure to send in a pair that can stay at school all year!
***Does your child leave class a lot to get drinks? If you ask and he/she says yes, please send a water bottle daily!
Language Arts:
3rd graders - Read 20 mins (minimum) each night
4th graders - Read 30 mins (minimum) each night
(Bring in a chapter book to read in class. You will keep your book inside your binder)
Language Arts Focus:
-Narrative Essay/Show Don't Tell/Leads and Hooks
-Figurative Language= Simile/Metaphor/Idiom
-We are learning to write a well developed, structured paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting details, transitions and a closing sentence. We are also learning to write narrative essays to develop experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive detail and clear event sequences.

Math:
3rd grade Math -
-H 2-15
-Get test letter signed and return the bottom portion signed tomorrow
-Our Unit 2 Test is Friday. We learned how to complete function tables. We also learned how to apply the C.U.B.E.S strategy for solving two step word problems. Ask your child to tell you about this awesome problem solving strategy.
4+ iReady lessons must be PASSED this week by Friday.
-XtraMath: Complete 3+ sessions on XtraMath each week
4th Grade Math –
*We are only using the traditional long divison that parents learned when they were little. We are NOT doing any of the other methods taught in the book.
-In class we completed journal pages 97-99
-HR 3-2 is due tomorrow
-We need to pass 5 iready math lessons by Friday, December 1
- OLT #4 is due on 12-5-22
*Please practice your division and multiplication facts as much as possible. Long division is extra challenging if you don't know your facts!
Social Studies –
-How do geographers study the regions of the United States? Teach a parent about lines of latitude/longitude/map key/special purpose maps/scales and symbols/global grid/cardinal/intermediate directions/regions of the US
Science –
-Motion and Matter focus questions: What happens when magnets interact with other magnets and with paper clips? How is the magnetic field affected when more magnets are added? Ask your child what a force is and what the two types of forces are.

If your child ever has extra time and you want to give him/her something extra to do, i-Ready reading and math lessons are always there waiting for them in ClassLink! We are going to try to work on them when we have time in class to earn time for games on Fridays. Every lesson your child completes is beneficial!
