Please please consider joining a conference of your child(ren)'s Co-Curricular teachers!! You will want to hear about the exciting learning going on. Co-Curricular classes make up a significant part of your child’s schedule. These classes include:  Art, Engage, Engineering Technology, Physical Education, and Spanish. All full-time BCS teachers will be available during all scheduled conference hours via Zoom only.

Homework:

***Does your child have headphones or earbuds at school? Please ask and be sure to send in a pair that can stay at school all year!

***Does your child leave class a lot to get drinks?  If you ask and he/she says yes, please send a water bottle daily!



Language Arts: 


3rd graders - Read 20 mins (minimum) each night

4th graders - Read 30 mins (minimum) each night

(Bring in a chapter book to read in class. You will keep your book inside your binder)

 

Language Arts Focus:

-Show Don't Tell/Leads and Hooks

-Figurative Language= Simile/Metaphor/Idiom

-We are learning to write a well developed, structured paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting details, transitions and a closing sentence.  We are also learning to write narratives to develop experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive detail and clear event sequences.  




Spelling:  

Last Friday we took a test on our words and received our new words.  Ask to see the words as the spelling list was written in the planner.   You can also find the spelling list in Power Spelling along with the games.  Students should play all games on Power Spelling before Friday!  

Our next spelling test is Friday, November 11.  If your child is ever absent for a Friday spelling test, it will be active online that morning and can be done at home.

This week's word pattern: Week 6: Short and Long oo Vowel Patterns: oo, ou, u

The test on November 11th be on the following words:  proof, shampoo, group, tool, groom, brook, racoon, soup, bloom, foolish, hoof, gloom, prove, crooked, stool, hook, bush, roof, booth, cookbook


Math:

3rd grade Math - 

H 2-8 

-Today in class we completed journal pages: 119

-iReady Math:  Complete 3 lessons on iReady Math each week

-XtraMath: Complete 3 sessions on XtraMath each week


-OLT (9s) due November 18 (Students will complete this assignment at home.)  Study your facts before taking the quizzes.  There will be a multiplication and a division quiz. 



4th Grade Math –

We spent A LOT of time yesterday and today practicing our multiplication and division facts.  I love watching the growth!

We have a division fact packet due this Monday the 14th.  It is not hard but quite time consuming.  Start now!

Unit 2 math tests went home.  Please ask your child if he/she showed me the signature.  

We have 4 iready math lessons due by tomorrow the 11th.  These lessons not only need to be completed but they must be PASSED!!

OLT #4 is due on 11-14-22


Science –

Motion and Matter focus questions: What happens when magnets interact with other magnets and with paper clips?  How is the magnetic field affected when more magnets are added?  Ask your child what a force is and what the two types of forces are.

If your child ever has extra time and you want to give him/her something extra to do, i-Ready reading and math lessons are always there waiting for them in ClassLink!  We are going to try to work on them when we have time in class to earn time for games on Fridays.  Every lesson your child completes is beneficial!

  Ask your child to share with you their Opinion Writing Podcast produced on Seesaw!  The students did a great job on this  "Would You ...
