If you plan to check out a Battle book from BCS, you may place a hold on one Battle book at a time for check out.  Holds placed before 3pm on Monday will be available for a special Battle of the Books pickup on Tuesday, December 8, from 9am to 3pm.  If you cannot make that pickup time, your books will still be available during our regular Thursday and Friday pickups.

Baldwin Library also has multiple copies of each Battle title, and they even have a curbside pickup option. We are so excited to begin the Battle of the Books and we are looking forward to seeing you on Monday. A special thanks to Baldwin Library for all of their hard work putting this together.

Happy Reading!

Choice Hour Updates:

Choice hour for everyone is from 3:25-4:10pm.

All Choice Hour Quarter II is virtual except for competitive 6-8 sports teams (boys basketball and      girls swimming).

Please direct all Choice Hour questions to Courtney Bassett at cbassett@birmingham.k12.mi.us.

This is our updated schedule!  Please print a copy for your child.  In time they should be able to independently navigate this.  Thank you for your support at home until that happens.

Here is your homework for today:

3rd Grade Reading:  20+ minutes

4th Grade Reading:  30+ minutes

Language Arts:

Currently we are focused on Figurative Language.  We are working on revising our narratives to add this language in and enjoying the novel, "The Year of the Dog". Ask your child to share with you a summary of  what we have read so far!  It is such a great book!

Word Study:  On Friday we were excited to introduce our first word study assignment.  Please ask your child to share his/her words with you and the assignment that is due by Wednesday, December 16th.  Once your child has completed all of the assignments, he/she is ready to take the test online (Spelling TestMe).  Feel free to practice with your child first!  Remember, we are focused on patterns of spelling and how we use them across our language as well as vocabulary.  There is so much to learn about words in our language!

3rd Grade Math:

Study your 9's facts for 10 or more minutes.

Online Tests are due 12-16-20

XtraMath:  Three Rounds with Mr. C!

Make sure you have tried logging in to Compass Learning so you can tell Mrs. Butzin if it is working!

ThatQuiz Online Tests: Multiplication online tests should be completed.  Ask your child to show you his/her completed online tests for X2 and X3 (and any that are incomplete).  There are a few students who need to complete these.

XTRA MATH:  Use the letter your parent received in an email to register your child.  The email was generated through xtramath.  (You may need to check your spam folder.)  Please use a permanent marker to write 4 digit student pin as well as the registered parent email the account in the front cover of the planner.  This will allow your child to access his account at home or school!

4th Grade Math:

JP #33  Demonstrate for a parent how you do long division with zeros!

Online Tests are due 12-16-20 (use this weekend to study your facts before you take the tests!)

Social Studies:

We are currently studying map skills.  Soon we will learn more about the first people to settle in the United States.  The event below would be a nice enrichment for that study.

Science:

We are studying the structures of life, animal adaptations, energy, motion and matter, and so much more.
