 Choice Hour Updates:

  • There is no Choice Hour this week Wed, Thurs, or Fri. Quarter I Choice Hours ended on Monday. 
  • Choice Hour Sign Up for Quarter II has been open for a week and was due Tuesday, 11/3 by 11:59pm. Students can still submit a late submission online: https://www.birmingham.k12.mi.us/Page/6952
  • Quarter II Choice Hour is supposed to begin on Monday, November 9th. The plan is to offer two time slots, one at 10:55am and one at 3:25pm. We will provide Choice Hour updates as the district updates us on our return to school plans. 
  • Quarter II placements and schedules will not be available until the weekend and/or leading up to the first day of Choice Hour. This information will be sent to students and parents and teachers electronically as it was first quarter. Students will be able to look up their schedules on a spreadsheet using their Student ID Number. 
  • All Choice Hour Quarter II is virtual except for competitive 6-8 sports teams (boys basketball and girls swimming).

 Here is your homework for today:

Remember to pack 3 sharpened pencils for class each day!  Please check your back pack to make sure you pencils for class each day!

***For students who are coming to school:  PLEASE BRING EVERYTHING WITH YOU EACH DAY!!!  This means your math materials, writer's notebooks, language arts packets/books, social studies, Scholastic News, and anything else we could possibly be working on.


3rd Grade Reading:  20+ minutes

4th Grade Reading:  30+ minutes


Language Arts:  

Everyone’s narrative should follow the same basic guidelines and should be completed and turned in on schoology.  Please make sure you have completed your narrative as you will be sharing this tomorrow in class.  You will need to access this in your google drive for sharing tomorrow with your classmates.  

Your child should choose from one of the following fonts:  Times, Times New Roman, Arial, Comic Sans

The font size should be 12, 13, or 14

The font color should be black throughout the document

The title should be centered

Paragraphs should be indented

In the top right corner, we should see name, date, and narrative

Spelling should be corrected using the spell check tool

The word “I” should always be capitalized

Proper nouns should be capitalized

The body of the essay should be double spaced

For now, let’s avoid starting sentences with “and” or “because”

When your child is all done with the typing, he/she is welcome to change the font size, type and color of the title only.

Did you include a lead/hook?

Did you include a conclusion?

Did you include sensory details?

Did you include transitions?


Social Studies:

We are hard at work talking about government!  


Science:

We are studying the structures of life.


3rd Gade Math: 

Today we took our unit 1 test in class!

Xtramath: 10+ minutes (3 times a week)

Study *5 for 10 minutes each day

XtraMath:  Make sure you have enrolled in this program.  

Study your strategy cards for ten minutes (our focus this week is *4)

ThatQuiz Online Tests: Multiplication online tests should be completed.  Ask your child to show you his/her completed online tests for X2 and X3 (and any that are incomplete).  There are a few students who need to complete these.  

XTRA MATH:  Use the letter your parent received in an email to register your child.  The email was generated through xtramath.  (You may need to check your spam folder.)  Please use a permanent marker to write 4 digit student pin as well as the registered parent email the account in the front cover of the planner.  This will allow your child to access his account at home or school!


4th Grade Math: 

HR 2-7 

Oonline Tests Due Wednesday, November 11th.

Study your facts for 10+ minutes
