Field Trip Friday!

Thank you so much to our fabulous chaperones for volunteering during our fun trip  to the Rouge Factory!!!!  You helped make it an amazing trip!

Image result for rouge factory tourOur students were engaged and interested to see how the development of the Dearborn site has changed over the years. They then got to enjoy a fabulous laser, robotic 360 movie, which showed all the steps involved in the construction of the Ford F150. Finally, we toured the plant itself and watched the trucks roll through the assembly line, while line workers assembled their parts in 60 seconds or less. A total of 600 trucks are made per shift. Two shifts everyday!  All of trucks assembled there are pre-ordered!  WOW!

Winter Party Project: Donations are being collected in 104 A Science Lab

We are very excited to announce that all 3/4 classrooms will again to taking part in a project benefiting the Pediatric Department at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

There are 3 parts to the project: 1 will take place all NEXT week and the other 2 during the winter party.

1) The student are invited to bring in 1 of the following UNWRAPPED gifts anytime next week!!  Beaumont is putting a holiday shop together for the kids to choose an item and they need toys ahead of time.  We will be delivering toys at 3:30 on Friday 12/15.  Please bring the unwrapped item to your classroom and they will be collected on 12/15.

These items will be used in the holiday shop, prizes for pokes and medical procedures, birthday and end of chemotherapy celebrations.  The department has said that they are running low on kids play medical kits, which are a hit.  Other recommendations from the department are:

New Baby Board Books

Polar fleece no sew blankets

Paint Brushes

Large sheets of art paper

Wooden and ceramic paint kits

Xbox 360 games (new or used)

DVDs (newer titles; new or used)

Craft projects

UNO cards

Sippy Cups

Silly Straws

Bubbles (used for distraction)

Latex-free Nexcare character band-aids

Target, BeatBuy or ITunes gift cards

Toy/play doctor kits

2) The students in each class will have a chance to write a Holiday card to a pediatric patient.  The student can decorate or write as he/she wishes.

3) Each classroom will make a Gingerbread chain that will be hung in the pediatric Department.  These 8 chains will help brighten the hallways for the children.

Happy Holidays!
