Scholastic Book Ordering:

Math:
-3rd Grade:
-Unit 3:Tests returned on Tuesday, 2/16/2025 for a parent signature.
-Unit 4: We are exploring division and the relationship between multiplication and division.

-Unit 3 Test was TUESDAY (changed from Monday)- students are bringing home their math journal on Thursday as a review as well as a test letter.
-Unit 3 Test Letter is coming home on Thursday and is due on Tuesday(1/14/25) with a parent signature.
-Students are bringing home a Unit 3 Cool Down packet that we completed together in class.
Optional Unit 3 Additional Practice Packet was given to students on 1/8/25. Optional practice means that a parent decides if this practice is optional.
-Starting in 2025, in class we have a goal of completing one "fluency flight" a day in our math iready program. If your child misses a day of school, please ask him/her to complete this at home. It takes about 5 minutes.
NONE THIS WEEK DUE TO iReady Math TESTING-We have 3 iready math lessons due by Friday. (36 total). These can be accessed on any device with internet. Visit Birmingham Public Schools and search for ClassLink.
-Complete at least 3 sessions of Xtramath by Friday. (Students should complete 1 session which is about 5-7 minutes. Click continue until Mr. C says that you are done!)

We have a new set of online fact tests due on Monday, January 27. We also have We will NOT have new iready math lessons assigned this week as we will take the diagnostic on Tuesday the 21st. All lessons can be accessed on any device with internet, however, the diagnostic must be taken here at school. Visit Birmingham Public Schools and search for ClassLink.

Language Arts:
-Bring chapter books to read in class. You will keep your books inside of your desk.
-3rd graders: Read 20 minutes each night
-4th graders: Read 30 minutes each night

Writing: Friendly Letters to our Groves Penpals
Word Study: #15: Words with Prefixes re-, un-, dis-
We will take out spelling test in class on Friday! Each week your child will write the words in his/her planner. The word lists are also available to study using Powerspelling (your child knows their login). This is an optional way to study if your child has their own device at home. Student logins are taped inside of your child's planner. Please show your weekly spelling test score to your parents in Powerspelling- Click Scores/Results.
Ask you child about the Language Arts Learning Targets:
Personal Narrative Essay- Ask your child to share with you the character, setting, problem and solution of his/her Constellation Narrative Essay that we are writing. Remember to include details about the sights, sounds and actions that you included to describe the setting of the story.
-What is the message of Sarah, Plain and Tall? -Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. -Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally. -Use narrative techniques, such as dialogue, description, and pacing, to develop experiences and events or show the responses of characters to situations. -Use a variety of transitional words, phrases, and clauses to manage the sequence of events. -Use concrete words and phrases and sensory details to convey experiences and events precisely. -Provide a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or events. |
